Cynthia & James Miller Medium: Glass |

My interest in glass started at an early age of ten when I tried to melt sand with a blow torch in a clay pot. On a field term in college, I traveled to Murano and was fascinated by the blowing process. After college I built several glass furnaces and blew very crude pieces though the seventies and early eighties. In1986 my wife and I went to Philchuck Seattle to learn glass blowing and when we returned rebuilt our two car garage into a glassblowing studio. For the next twenty years, Cindy and I blew glass part time working on mixing colors in transparent glass. Recently, we have experiment with photosensitive glass and have been able to develop pictures and images in hand blown glass plates and vases. Our newest challenge is the combination of the photo glass and bronze sculpture. Both Cindy and I enjoy the process of blowing glass-it’s a artistic dance of color and space. |
