As
far back as I can remember I have liked to draw which I still do; I
believe drawing is the foundation for all forms of art. My working
career was construction, which left me little time to practice my art,
but I did make time many years ago to attend life drawing and watercolor
classes, and I joined a local guild to sell my work. In the 80’s I
attended art classes at Front Range Community College; this is where I
studied sculpture and pottery. Pottery seemed to suit me so I continued
to study pottery at the college and the Arvada Center. Sculpture always
remained in my thoughts so when I had time I attended drawing and
terra-cotta sculpture classes at the Art Students League of Denver. A
few years ago I meet Steve Boyce who owns a foundry in Arvada; he got me
started creating bronze sculptures. Once in a while I will gather my
junk steel and weld together what I call a junk steel sculpture which I
place around my yard. Now that I have survived life to this point,
helped my wife raise our three kids, and retired I will have more time
to continue learning and growing in the practice of art.
